Storage Wanstead Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Wanstead in recognition of our responsibility to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery does not take place in any part of our business.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Wanstead operates a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our own activities, our employees, contractors, and every level of our supply chain. We do not tolerate any form of forced, bonded or compulsory labour, servitude, child labour that is not in line with international standards, or any form of human trafficking.
All managers and employees are expected to uphold this commitment and to challenge any behaviour, practice or arrangement that appears inconsistent with our zero-tolerance position. Any confirmed breach of this policy will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter and may result in termination of employment or contracts, as well as notification to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Wanstead provides storage facilities and related services. Our supply chain includes providers of building maintenance, security, cleaning, utilities, equipment, fit-out and refurbishment, technology, and professional services. We recognise that the risk of modern slavery can be higher in some sectors and geographies, particularly where lower-skilled or temporary labour is common, or where subcontracting is prevalent.
We seek to work with suppliers and contractors that share our values and demonstrate strong ethical standards. We expect all suppliers to comply with applicable laws relating to employment, working conditions, health and safety, and human rights.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Storage Wanstead conducts proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers, particularly those operating in higher-risk sectors or regions. Our procurement processes are designed to identify potential risks of modern slavery and to ensure that suppliers understand and accept our expectations.
Where appropriate, we carry out supplier audits or request evidence demonstrating ethical labour practices, such as written policies, workforce records, and proof of right to work. We reserve the right to conduct onsite visits or to engage third parties to undertake independent assessments where we consider this necessary.
If a supplier is unable or unwilling to provide sufficient assurance that modern slavery risks are effectively managed, we may suspend or terminate the relationship. We also expect suppliers to cascade similar standards to their own subcontractors and supply chains.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Wanstead encourages employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to speak up if they have concerns or suspicions about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business or supply chain. Individuals may raise issues with their line manager, a senior manager, or through any internal reporting channel made available to them.
We will treat all reports seriously and, where appropriate, investigate promptly and confidentially. No person will suffer retaliation or disadvantage for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated. Where credible allegations are identified, we will take appropriate remedial action and, if necessary, cooperate with law enforcement and relevant authorities.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management and supplier relationships. Training and guidance are provided to help employees recognise indicators of exploitation and understand how to report concerns.
Storage Wanstead is committed to continuous improvement in this area. We will regularly review our policies, due diligence procedures and supplier engagement to strengthen our approach as best practice and legal requirements develop.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with our business operations and legal obligations. As part of the review, we assess any reported incidents, audit findings, and feedback from stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.
The updated statement is approved by the senior management of Storage Wanstead and made available to our employees, suppliers and customers. By maintaining a robust, transparent and regularly reviewed approach, Storage Wanstead aims to play its part in helping to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from the environments in which we operate.
